Abstract
Nomophobia—the fear of being without mobile phone connectivity—has emerged as a significant behavioral health issue in the smartphone era. Related behaviors such as social network sites (SNS) addiction and doomscrolling are increasingly associated with reduced psychological well-being, yet their joint modeling remains limited. This study proposes a social network mining framework to analyze nomophobia and well-being using indicators of SNS addiction and doomscrolling among emerging adults. The dataset includes 399 college students (18–25 years) from Coimbatore, India, with responses to four validated Likert scales. Regression and classification models—including linear models, tree-based ensembles, support vector machines, neural networks, and a multi-task architecture—are evaluated. Results reveal strong associations between nomophobia and SNS addiction (r = 0.73) and a negative relationship between doomscrolling and well-being (r = −0.52). The best models achieve R² ≈ 0.53 for nomophobia prediction and R² ≈ 0.26 for well-being, demonstrating the potential of data-driven behavioral health modeling.
